Final touches on the aorta and we began to mysteriously crave Maine lobster tail. Of course they're only red when you cook 'em, but we had no shortage of heat. Too bad this part is 20 feet up in the air on the finished piece. Hope the birds enjoy. |

It was at about this time during construction when we started to wonder if perhaps we made this thing too large. The original design would have had it at about 8 or 10 feet tall. There was no question that it would eat wood.. eat lots and lots of wood. Originally we were going to fire it with propane, but to get the thing hot enough to glow we would need a staggering number of BTUs which translates into thousands of pounds of LP gas. Hmmm. Maybe wood might be a little safer. |
